To be placed on the C list, a person must have owned and actively participated in showing (including regular handling) Belgian Shepherd Dogs for five years. Where dogs are owned (registered at the Kennel Club) by one member of a partnership but the other partner regularly attends shows and contributes significantly to the showing of the dog, they may count the years involvement as if they were the registered owner. Any person wishing to be included on the C list and not meeting the above criteria may apply to the Club for its consideration. All applicants must have attended a Belgian Shepherd Dog Club judging seminar and be aged 16 years or over.
To be placed on the B list applicants must have judged for three years after being on the C list, and judged a minimum of 15 classes, and 45 dogs.
To advance from the B list to the B* list applicants must have judged for three years since their inclusion on the B list, judged a minimum of a further 20 classes and a further 75 dogs. To have attended and passed the written judges examination at a BSD breed club judging seminar.
To be placed on the A3 list applicants must have judged for two years since their inclusion on the B* judging list, have judged a minimum of a further 25 classes and a further 60 dogs, stewarded on at least 12 occasions, and have owned or bred at least three dogs at the time they first gained their Stud Book Number; have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club accredited trainer, and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Regulations and Judging Procedures, have attended a seminar by a Kennel Club accredited trainer on conformation and movement; to have attended at least one breed specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code Of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.
Judges on the A1 list have been approved by the NBSDC and have been previously approved by the Kennel Club to award Challenge Certificates to our breed at championship shows.
These are held bi-annually and are a great opportunity to learn about the breed whether you already judge, would like to become a judge, or just want to find out more. Members and non-members welcome. The next seminar is planned for October 2011.
